Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Jack Klem is the Medical Director of Neurosurgery at North Shore Medical Center in Miami and is also on staff at Florida Medical Center, a campus of North Shore in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Klem sees patients in his offices in Miami and Kendall.
For his education and training, Dr. Klem completed his residency in neurological surgery and an internship in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Klem graduated medical school from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Klem received a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from The Wharton School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, majoring in Finance.
Upon arrival to South Florida, Dr. Klem served as Medical Director in Vascular Neurosurgery and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Florida International University (FIU).
Dr. Jessica Okun was the administrative chief neurological surgery resident of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). Dr. Okun specializes in brain and pituitary tumors, epilepsy surgery, including endoscopic approaches as well as cranial and spine trauma, degenerative spinal pathology, including minimally invasive and complex approaches. She is on staff at Florida Medical Center, a campus of North Shore located in Fort Lauderdale and sees patients in her office in Sunrise.
For her education and training, Dr. Okun finished a neurological surgery residency at PCOM and her surgical transitional internship at Mercy Health System in Philadelphia. She graduated medical school with highest honors as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the Nova Southeastern University College of Medicine in Fort Lauderdale and Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Science (MS) in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University in Miami.
Dr. Giancarlo Perez completed industry sponsored courses including Screw Placement Didactic and a Cadaveric Lab course, as well as Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion Didactic and Cadaveric Lab Course at Miami Anatomical Research Center. He has participated as a lecturer at the Department of Neurological Surgery Grand Rounds at the University of Miami on the topics of brainstem syndromes, hypothalamic hamartomas, dural arteriovenous fistulas, cavernous carotic fistulas and vein of galen malformations. Dr. Perez specializes in brain and spinal tumors, spinal degenerative disease, normal pressure hydrocephalus, hydrocephalus, pituitary tumors through endoscopic approaches, cranial and spine trauma. He is on staff at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah and sees patients in his office in Hialeah.
For his education and training, Dr. Perez completed medical school at the Ponce School of Medicine, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and completed a residency in neurological surgery at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Dr. Perez is a member of the Advanced Neuroscience Network, American College of Physicians, American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
